79TH BIENNIAL CROCKER-KINGSLEY EXHIBIT
Blue Line Arts Gallery, Roseville, CA
January 11 - February 23, 2019
The 2019 Crocker-Kingsley Exhibition features over 80 works chosen by the juror, David Pagel of Los Angeles. Pagel is an art critic who writes regularly for the Los Angeles Times.  He is also a professor of Art Theory and History at Claremont Graduate University and an adjunct curator at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill, New York.

From over 1900 entries, Pagel has selected 80 finalists whose works will be exhibited in the gallery of Blue Line Arts (until February 23) and from these, has selected the five winners of the Crocker-Kingsley Prizes.  From March 3 - May 5, 2019  the five awarded works will be on exhibit at the Crocker Art Museum.

Tom Gehrig's work has been selected for the Biennial Crocker-Kingsley Exhibits multiple times: 1998, 2000, and in 2012 his piece, Fourth of Five Attempts to Attract A Mockingbird, was awarded 2nd Prize. Gehrig's work has also been selected for the 2019 exhibit, showing one of his latest paintings, Reconnoitering Deception Pass. The opening reception for the show is Saturday, January 19th, from 5-8pm. Mr. Gehrig will be one of four artists lecturing at the event.
The Crocker-Kingsley Exhibition at Blue Line continues a tradition first started in 1927 when the Kingsley Art Club staged an exhibition of its members’ work. This prestigious exhibit has included many of the premier names in American and Californian art, including Robert Arneson, Kathryn Uhl Ball, Elmer Bischoff, Fred Dalkey, David Gilhooly, Ralph Goings, Gregory Kondos, Roland Petersen, Mel Ramos, Ruth Rippon, Fritz Scholder and Wayne Thiebaud.
