The O’Hanlon Center for the Arts in Mill Valley is presenting: LOCAL INSPIRATION. This was a geographically restricted call for works inspired by the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. Who or What in the environment has been an artistic inspiration? What place, person, or cause in your community has been a force for your creativity?

Tom Gehrig's work, The Unexpected Always Happens: Black Crowned Night Heron at Five Brooks Pond, is featured in the show. ​This mixed media piece is an on-going narrative that began in 1972. It continues to evolve as time goes along, and this latest passage involves a pond near the Five Brooks Trail in Marin County.

ABOUT THE JUROR
Dr. Natasha Boas is an international independent curator and writer. Her work has been featured in numerous publications such as the New York Times, Frieze and ArtForum. As a curator, she has worked for major museums such as the Centre Pompidou, the Berkeley Art Museum, Pacific Film Archives, Grey Art Gallery, and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
